Liver cancer

Is it true that Hepatitis C leads to liver cancer?

No, not necessarily. The risk of liver cancer only increases in those who have developed cirrhosis, and only a minority of people who have cirrhosis go on to develop primary liver cancer.

Primary liver cancer means the cancer starts in the liver cells. It doesn't spread there from somewhere else. If you are being treated for cirrhosis, doctors will give you regular tests to make sure you haven't developed any signs of liver cancer.
